1. Alumina crucibles (also known as corundum crucibles)

It is suitable for the use of anhydrous Na2CO3 and other weakly alkaline substances as flux melting samples, but not for Na2O2 and NaOH types of strongly basic substances and acidic substances as flux melting samples.

2. Zirconia crucibles

The melting point of zirconia is higher than that of zirconium, up to 2700 °C, it is one of the materials with the best refractory properties in nature, even if it is heated to 1900 °C, it will not interact with molten aluminum, iron, nickel, platinum, silicate, acid slag and etc. So crucibles made of zirconia materials can successfully smelt platinum group precious metals and alloys such as platinum, palladium, ruthenium, and cesium.

It is worth noting that although zirconia is more expensive than alumina, it is a special oxide refractory that cannot be replaced by other oxide materials in high-temperature furnaces above 2000 °C.



3. Boron nitride crucibles

Common types of boron nitride are cubic boron nitride (C-BN) and hexagonal boron nitride (P-BN). Among them, the boron nitride crucible is usually composed of P-BN. P-BN ceramic has good heat resistance, thermal stability, thermal conductivity, high temperature dielectric strength, is an ideal heat dissipation material and high temperature insulating material.

Due to its excellent chemical stability, P-BN can resist the erosion of most molten metals. Therefore, P-BN crucibles are often used to smelt metals and semiconductors. Its use temperature under vacuum is up to 1800 degrees, and the highest temperature under atmospheric protection Up to 2100 ℃, generally protected by nitrogen or argon (atmosphere protection is not to oxidize the crucible).
